PROJECT NAME
Throughout the new Justin Tower we custom created and fabricated nearly two dozen unique art installations. The direction for design for this $500M addition to Texas Health Resources was to honor primary donors John and Jane Justin ( Justin Boots). Throughout, the theme presents upscale western elegance, in a hospitality style fashion.
Primarily the installations are featured throughout the first floor. Additional history wall and glass installations are on the mezzanine, and at waiting areas on each floor are groupings of western themed photos and illlustrations, some with 3 dimensional aspects.
In the first floor lobby patrons are presented with two large glass weavings. The style reminds us of old hand woven twig fencing, done in glass who's coloration suggests water. Within this same space, continuing this water theme, is a bas relief that spans a 30 foot wide wall. The theme of this bas relief is a topo map of the Trinity River watershed, which includes the Ft Worth area.
Beyond this lobby is a donor wall featuring a modern vertical walnut slat and gun metal blued name plates. Continuing down this hall one passes by two large art pieces made with vintage belts, and a pair of concho inspired designs with hand tooled leather embellishments.
In the next room one walks by a wall of vertical straps, recognizing the saddlery industry of Ft. Worth. On a back wall are featured 850 wooden shingles in various local woods, many with wood burned logos and western icons. Flanking this wall is a display of Pecan wood “cookies”, each featuring centers of molten western memorabilia. And beside this wall is a hand painted mural depicting the history of Fort Worth.
And the cherry on top, a wonderful pop art style animation plays on a custom corner built screen. To view this wonderful 2 minute animation (I highly recommend!), click HERE.
